About Prophecy
Voxeo Prophecy 8 is a powerful, entirely standards-based platform for speech,
IVR, and SIP VoIP applications. Prophecy is the world's first telephony
application platform software to offer enterprise-class features with
retail like simplicity, at an extremely low price.
The resulting product is:

Installation
When you first run the Prophecy download it will guide you through the installation of the full set of Voxeo tools and services.
The evaluation version comes with a fully
functional 30-day license key, and you can upgrade to a permanent free license at any time simply by registering the software.
After the installation is complete you should have the following new services running:
- Voxeo Prophecy Server, including Voxeo's CCXML, CallXML, and MRCP servers
- Voxeo Prophecy VoiceXML Browser, the Voxeo VoiceXML 2.1-compliant server
- Voxeo Prophecy Management Console, including a web server with full PHP support
- Voxeo Prophecy Application Sever, including a web server with full Java servlet/JSP support
- Voxeo Designer, including the Designer server and visual development tool
There will also be several new programs installed in the Voxeo group in the "start" menu on your machine:
- Prophecy Home, a web-based user interface that includes a management console to assist in configuring your new software
(The default p/w and usernames are: admin and admin).
- SIP Phone, a fully functional SIP phone that you can use to test your applications
- Log Viewer, an interactive syslog server that allows you to easily view and filter the output from the Voxeo services
- Start all services - will start each of the Voxeo Prophecy services
- Stop all services - will stop each of the Voxeo Prophecy services
- Restart all services - will stop and then restart each of the Voxeo Prophecy services
- Prophecy System Tray - provides a convenient tray menu for accessing and managing the various Voxeo Prophecy components
Usage
After installation, you can edit the following scripts:
- For CallXML, the callxml-home.xml script is in the www directory of the Prophecy installation. This script can then be accessed via the built-in PHP-capable
web-server at http://localhost:9990/callxml-home.xml
- For VoiceXML, the vxml-home.xml script is in the www directory of the Prophecy installation. This script can then be accessed via the built-in PHP-capable
web server at http://127.0.0.1:9990/vxml-home.xml
- For CCXML Voxeo, the ccxml-home.xml script is in the www directory of the Prophecy installation. This script can then be accessed via the built-in PHP-capable
web server at http://127.0.0.1:9990/ccxml-home.xml
- For CCXML 1.0 (the W3C specification), the ccxml10-home.xml script is in the www directory of the Prophecy installation. This script can then be accessed via the built-in PHP-capable
web server at http://127.0.0.1:9990/ccxml10-home.xml
NOTE: The Prophecy Platform has two built-in web servers in the current release, one at port 9990 that can deliver static content or PHP 5.1 script content;
and one at port 9991 that can deliver static content or JSP/Java servlet script content. The PHP/static server uses (voxeo install directory)\www
as the root directory and the Java application server uses (voxeo install directory)\webapps\(your_project_dir). These two web servers will be integrated in a future Prophecy release.
You should next start the Voxeo Log Viewer from your start menu.
Finally, you can then call into the platform using the Voxeo SIP softphone from the start menu.
You can call the following addresses from the softphone:
- call sip:callxml@127.0.0.1 for CallXML
- call sip:ccxml@127.0.0.1 for CCXML Voxeo
- call sip:ccxml10@127.0.0.1 for CCXML 1.0
- call sip:vxml@127.0.0.1 for VoiceXML

The Prophecy Home Page, installed in Start -> All Programs -> Voxeo provides access to a quick start guide, the Prophecy administration console,
CallXML, VoiceXML, and CCXML documentation, the Prophecy Support forum, and more.
For help with using Prophecy from the command line, go to the directory Prophecy was installed to and run "prophecy help". This will provide you with basic
information about the platform, including how to query service status, uninstall, start services, and more.
For more information on CallXML, CCXML, or VoiceXML, refer to the Voxeo reference guides below.
Note, however, that these guides refer exclusively to using Voxeo's hosted Evolution developer portal for testing.
